Could the Euphoria star really be the next Bond Girl? There’s no official answer yet, of course. Amazon MGM Studios hasn’t announced the cast of Bond 26, and even the new actor taking over the role of 007 has yet to be revealed. Still, the speculation around the film has been getting louder, and Sweeney is currently sitting at the top of one particular list.
According to odds compiled by Gambling.com, Sydney Sweeney is the current favorite to play the female lead in the next Bond movie, with an estimated 28.6% probability. Margaret Qualley follows at 25%, while Lily James is at 20%. Those numbers come from betting odds, though, and shouldn’t be confused with actual information about casting or negotiations.
Sweeney’s name has been floating around the Bond conversation for quite a while now, so this isn’t exactly a brand-new rumor. She has remained a popular choice among bettors and has reportedly stayed near the top of the list for months. That doesn’t mean she’s been offered the role, or even that she’s talking to the studio. As things stand, there is no official indication that she is involved with Bond 26.
Who Else Could Be the Next Bond Girl?
Sweeney isn’t the only actress being mentioned. Monica Barbaro, Anya Taylor-Joy, Florence Pugh and Jodie Comer are also among the names appearing on the betting list. Zendaya, who works with Sweeney on Euphoria, is also in the mix, although she sits further down at number eight.
Mikey Madison and Milly Alcock round out the top ten, followed by Marisa Abela, Emma Corrin, Brooks Nader and Livvy Dunne. Again, none of these names have been confirmed by Amazon MGM, so for now they’re better viewed as possibilities being discussed by bettors and fans rather than a leaked shortlist from the studio.
And then there’s the much bigger question: who is actually going to play Bond?
The Next James Bond Is Still a Mystery
There has been no shortage of names linked to the 007 role since Daniel Craig’s final appearance as Bond. Callum Turner, Jacob Elordi, Harris Dickinson, Paul Mescal, Jack Barton and Jack Lowden have all been mentioned at various points, but none has been officially announced.
The one thing we do know is that the franchise has its new creative team in place. Denis Villeneuve, the director behind Dune, is set to direct the next Bond movie, while Steven Knight, best known as the creator of Peaky Blinders, is writing the screenplay. Amy Pascal and David Heyman are producing.
That alone makes the next film pretty interesting, considering Villeneuve is coming into one of the biggest and most closely watched franchises in movie history. Exactly what his version of Bond will look like, though, is still anyone’s guess.
When Will Bond 26 Be Released?
There isn’t an official release date yet, either. Current reports suggest that production could begin sometime in 2027, with an announcement about the new James Bond potentially coming in the months ahead. Until then, both Bond himself and the female lead remain officially uncast.
So, could Sydney Sweeney be the next Bond Girl? She’s certainly one of the names getting plenty of attention, and the current betting odds put her at the top. But that’s about as far as the evidence goes right now. Until Amazon MGM actually announces its cast, Sweeney is a favorite on a betting list—not the confirmed star of the next 007 movie.
